Magnetic particle testing – MT
Principle:
The indications distract the magnetic field created by a magnetizing device. The ferromagnetic metal object is magnetized and the object is blown with a ferromagnetic powder (contrasting color or fluorescent additive) suspension. The particles are collected in the distracted magnetic field and an indication of the surface by surface or subsurface indications is obtained. Observation is done with white or ultraviolet light.
Field of application:
The method is used to detect surface and subsurface indications in controlled objects and devices having magnetic properties.
